“ Dining at Sans Rival Bistro was nothing short of outstanding. My family and I went in for dinner and every detail — from the food to the service — impressed us. We ordered the Paella along with a few other dishes, and each one came out perfectly executed, rich with flavor, and beautifully presented. The highlight for me, though, was finally trying their iconic Silvanas (yes, the famous Sans Rival Silvanas!). One bite and I understood why it’s a Dumaguete classic—crisp, creamy, and absolutely addictive. Despite the bistro being quite busy, the ambience was warm, inviting, and never rushed. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, striking that rare balance of genuine hospitality and efficiency. It’s the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. A must-experience in Dumaguete — for both first-timers and regulars who know the joy of coming back. ”
“ The place is homey. The food is great. The waiter should've recommended to set the cake to room temperature before serving. We were served a frozen Tres Leches! It spoiled the cake. ”
“ This Bistro is located near the bakery, on the ocean side. We visited during a weekday lunch and the place was packed. Since there were hardly any seats left, we sat outside. The weather was nice and the ocean view was beautiful, but that turned out to be a big mistake. Unless it is raining, the outdoor area is exposed to exhaust fumes, street noise, and fine dust. On top of that, I could clearly see tiny black particles landing in the food, cakes, and drinks. The outdoor seat cushions were already dirty, and after sitting there for about an hour, the glass tabletop was completely covered in dust. Another issue is that from the entrance all the way to the terrace, people asking for money keep approaching. If you happen to make eye contact, they will not stop gesturing for money, and the security outside does nothing to stop them. Do not give them money because once you do, more beggars will continue to follow and ask. On the positive side, the food and desserts here are excellent. The mango cake was not overly sweet, the Silvana was soft and melted in my mouth, and the club sandwich was one of the best. Service was a bit slow and when I tried to pay by credit card (visa), it failed five times so I had to use cash instead. ”

The dinner options were affordable and tasted fine, but the desserts were definitely the highlight of the experience. I also commend their quick and efficient service. ”
